Common questions
How do I start?
Allow Photos access, then tap Scan Library in Overview. Open Photos or Videos to measure a sample and compare it with the original. Measuring and comparing are free and change nothing.
When is my original removed?
Only when you choose. Reductio first saves a separate smaller copy and checks its contents, date, location, caption, keywords, rating and albums. Then you keep both, remove the original, or remove the copy, always with a confirmation.
When do I get the space back?
Removed items go to Recently Deleted in Photos. Photos frees the space when you empty it, or after about 30 days.
Why can’t some items be optimised?
Reductio converts ordinary JPEG and opaque PNG photos and H.264 videos. HEIC and HEVC are already efficient. Live Photos, RAW, HDR, edited and specialist items stay protected. Open an item in Library to see why.
Something was interrupted. What now?
Open History and follow the item’s next step. Reductio checks what happened instead of guessing, and never repeats a removal. Don’t permanently delete either item from Recently Deleted while it’s being checked. Recovery never needs another purchase.
How do I restore Reductio Pro?
Open Settings in Reductio, then Reductio Pro, and tap Restore Purchases. Pro is a one-time Lifetime purchase, so there’s no subscription to manage or cancel.
Does Reductio work with iCloud Photos?
Yes. Originals stored only in iCloud are downloaded when you allow it, which can use mobile data. Changes sync to your other devices through iCloud Photos.
